Scene 5 to me was very heartbreaking and weird to me because Henry had hope that it will get better for him but Pachucho was bringing him down with all his negative comments towards him. The part I liked was at the end of the scene where you can see Pachucho true anger about the riots occurring and gives you a visual outlook of the place. The quote I picked out was "Stop hanging on to false hopes. The moment these hopes come crashing down, you'll find yourself on the ground foaming at the mouth." (page 78) As Pachucho says this to Henry because he's living in reality thinking he is going to get out when he knows he is not. He doesn't want Henry to go crazy in solitary thinking about it. I think this quote is important because it shows there true feelings and how they miss there family and friends. It makes me see another side of Henry that he has emotions and feelings too.
Why do you think Pachucho is being so negative towards Henry, when Henry is trying to stay positive?

Resume editingTo your question I think it was because he didn't want Henry to get his hopes up and if the appeal was lost he was going to regret having them. Sort of like a "I told you so" remark.
ReplyDeleteHi ladies (Janelle & Reneisha):
ReplyDeleteYou're dealing with el Pachuco and Henry as two totally separate entities. How does your response change if you consider that Henry and el Pachuco are two parts of the same person? What kind of conflict is going on in this man?
i agree on what Reneisha said because as i watched the movie it seem like he just want him to feel like he's not going to make it but then again the other's feel he's going make it.But then when the court part came up everything seemed to changed. So basically i feel that he didnt want Henry to get his hopes up.
ReplyDeleteClarification: I understand the question, but what do you mean in the latter part when you say, what kind of conflict is going on in "this man", which man are you referring to?
